The Settlement in Muslim Majority Countries vs The West - A Muslim’s Choice

Asalamualikum dear brothers & sisters,

We don’t wish to demotivate you with this article but recently there were talks in Muslim societies on immigration/hijrah considering the religious atrocities against Muslims in countries like India, and that if someone can settle in a Muslim majority country where Islamic Law is enforced, but unfortunately there is no such state in existence at the moment. There are some who claim to enforce it like Saudi Arabia or Iran but in reality they do not.

The very prime Islamic principles of Adl (Justice) and protection of life, money and property are non existent in most countries that claim and are Muslim by the adherence of Islam. Although many such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, even few countries in subcontinent are more or less safe, the rights and privileges granted to a human by Islam are not found there. Corrupt governments, racism, sectarianism, nepotism, false cases and unaccountability are rampant, and bribery is fairly common in most Muslim majority countries and cities.

Most Muslims tend to be ignorant regarding their religion which is thus reflected by their actions. “Liberal” Muslims, who love Haram aspects like pornography in all forms, fornication, imbibing alcohol and making money fraudulently are rising in number, and not to forget the extremists/opportunists who are exactly like the liberals in their actions, but just that they wear the cloak of Islam in their appearance but not in their actions.

Most Muslim countries still carry strong influences from their pre Islamic religions and when there is a conflict of Islam vs Culture, which one do you think most follow? Ans: Culture. For example, many African Muslims still practice female genital mutilation and marriage of rape victims to their rapists, or most grooms’ families in Pakistan and India demand “gifts” from the brides’ families at the time of marriage (a Hindu custom).

People who try to follow Allah's command face a very difficult life. Look at the lives of our Khulafa (Sayyiduna Uthman ؓ & Sayyiduna Ali ؓ) and our Aimma & Muhadditheen like Imam Abu Hanifa ؒ, Imam Ahmed bin Hambal ؒ, Imam Nasai ؒ etc.

These days, we rarely see people in the Masjids and hardly anyone offers the five mandatory prayers consistently in Masjids. Perfectly reasonable needs like transfer of property, getting a utility connection (water, electricity etc) are hard to get without paying “commissions” (bribes) to government officials.

Everyone wants a change and everyone wants to portray Muslims in a positive light, but no one wants to change themselves, to learn Islam and to follow Allah's commands or those of His Messenger ﷺ. Then there are, the worst of all, sectarian conflicts.

Everything which ja wrong in the eyes of a Muslim today is the fault of the “government” (but who works for the government?) or “non-Muslim intelligence agencies” (this is partly true but who exactly is so cheap to do anything for a few dollars? That's right: Muslim locals). You also see complete disregard for trade honesty (a very important principle of Islam) everywhere.

So to summarize what is it like to live in a modern “Muslim" society & the purpose of this article is not to discourage you from practicing Islam (Islam is a wonderful way of life) but to warn you about the hypocrites you will find (in massive quantities) and how they will make living as an obedient slave of Allah very, very hard for you.

At least the Muslims living in the western societies see the prevalence of truth in their mixed societies, no corruption or deception (at least at the lower levels), but the fear of losing the true flavour of imaan and being a suppressed Muslim (at least psychologically) always lingers on you and your children.

May Allah help us!
