How Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) Cared for the Poor
Upon entering Masjid Nabawi Shareef from door # 39 (Bāb al-Nisa) you’ll find a platform sort of a raised floor on your left. It is called Al-Suffah, which is a few meters away toward north side (or back side) from the sacred graves of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah ﷺ and the first two caliphs ؓ.
Al-Suffah was a place where a group of people who dedicated their lives to learning Sunnahs and memorizing the prophetic words (hadiths), the ones who were financially poor too during the time of the Prophet ﷺ, lived.
The Muazzin of Rasoolullah ﷺSayyiduna Bilal al-Habashi was also one of the As’hāb al-Suffah!
Prophet Muhammed ﷺ sat with the people of Suffah, and shared his food with them. Thus, people considered the People of Suffah as an extension to the prophetic family!
